Meals on Wheels Update
Thank you to all who donated to Surrey North Delta Meals on Wheels at the Christmas Show. The Surrey North Delta Meals on Wheels is a registered charity and receives some funding from Fraser Health and heavily relies on donations from the community. We raised $1,560.00 for their Sponsor a Senior program. This program operates by subsidizing low income people up to 50% of their lunches and/or dinner costs to cover administrative costs. Participants can order meals from one to seven days per week with volunteer drivers delivering those meals five days a week. Volunteer drivers deliver within Chelsea regularly for people who choose to have nutritious prepared meals delivered straight to their door. Many people also order on a temporary basis while recovering from surgery, sickness, or health issues or just to supplement their weekly diet.
Chelsea Gardens also previously donated $1,000.00 to Surrey North Delta Meals on Wheels from the bottle drive which also helped fund the Sponsor a Senior Program. Chelsea’s connection to this important volunteer service includes the regular and occasional involvement of five Chelsea residents. We are always looking for additional drivers/volunteers. Watch for the signs on the notice boards in the condos and Clubhouse.
